Forty-player sessions are the number that jumped out at me first, because Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is clearly being built as more than a campaign disc you finish on Sunday. If you're already checking matchmaking tools like CoD BO7 Bot Lobby while planning your first grind, here's the short version: this is an always-online Black Ops sequel with campaign, Co-Op, Endgame, Zombies, Warzone, seasons, and monetization all tied together. The release date is weird, though. PlayStation Store says November 14, 2025, while Amazon listings point to November 12, 2025, so take that with a grain of salt.

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 release date, platforms, and editions
Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is from Treyarch and Raven Software, with Activision publishing, and it's listed for PS5, PS4, Xbox, and Windows Digital editions. In the U.S., the Standard Edition and Cross-Gen Bundle sit at $69.99, while the Vault Edition jumps to $99.99. UK disc copies have reportedly dipped as low as £19.99, which is wild for a new CoD listing. PlayStation players need PS Plus for online play, and everyone needs an Activision account, the license agreement, and maybe a linked phone number. Not glamorous stuff, but no shot you should skip reading that if you mostly play solo.

Is Black Ops 7 campaign offline or online-only?
No, the campaign isn't offline. It supports solo and Co-Op, but it won't work without an internet connection, and that's the part that bugs me most. I've had enough mid-mission disconnects in live-service shooters to know how fast “I'll just finish this chapter” turns into staring at a restart screen. Reports also say you can't freely replay single missions after finishing, only restart the full campaign, so collectibles and missed beats need attention the first time through.

The story moves to 2035, after Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, with Raul Menendez back on screens and Cordis Die stirring up the usual nightmare fuel. David “Section” Mason leads a JSOC team into Avalon, a Mediterranean city where The Guild claims it can protect humanity. Yeah, sure. That tracks about as well as every fictional megacorp saying “trust us.” The hook is a weapon that turns human fear into war power, which fits Black Ops at its best: messy, paranoid, and just a little too pleased with itself.

Multiplayer maps, Omnimovement, and Season 03 grind
Multiplayer launches with 18 maps: 16 standard 6v6 arenas and two bigger 20v20 maps. The spread runs from futuristic Tokyo to frozen Alaska, and the big mechanical pitch is next-level Omnimovement, which should make slide fights, corner breaks, and chase-down kills feel nastier. I burned through a lot of Black Ops 6 loadout testing, and if this movement model keeps that same fast TTK pressure, your first-week build will matter a ton. Season 03 adds free weapons, new multiplayer maps, and Weekly Challenges across Multiplayer, Zombies, Co-Op, and Endgame. The ugly bit: reported hackers are already using spawn-location exploits, and that can torch match flow before the meta even settles.

Zombies, Warzone Avalon, and the stuff you pay extra for
Zombies goes Round-Based again, with the crew shoved into the Dark Aether and what's being billed as the biggest Round-Based Zombies map in Black Ops history. Season 03 adds Ashwood Survival Map, and GobbleGums return as consumable buffs, with the Vault Edition handing you eight Ultra rarity ones. Warzone ties into Avalon too, sharing progression, unlock tokens, and Call of Duty Points with Black Ops 7. Casual Battle Royale is reportedly gone, which means more players get pushed into the harsher loot-and-upgrade loop. If early TTK is as sharp as reported, expect some very short drops and some very loud party chat.

I'd treat the Vault Edition as a convenience buy, not a must-have. You get BlackCell for one season, 20 Tier Skips, 1,100 CP, the Reznov Challenge Pack, Operator skins for Harper, Karma, T.E.D.D., and Reaper EWR-3, five Mastercraft Weapons, and a Permanent Unlock Token for Prestige after Level 55. CP pricing runs from 200 CP at $1.99 up to 13,000 CP at $99.99, so the store math adds up fast. If you use marketplaces for gaming currency or item services, U4GM is the kind of site players may check while comparing costs, but I'd still wait for stable launch impressions before throwing premium money at this one.
