 Post subject: Numeric Jacobian: Get Index of partial derivative

Hey there,

I am trying to solve a a non-linear problem with Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Since i am not able to define an analytic Jacobian I am formulating a loss function which will be minimized during the optimization process.
Due to the time consuming calculation of the loss function, the optimizer becomes fairly slow.

However, not all elements of the loss function fi are dependent of the every input parameter vector x (forward kinematic model). Therefore i thought to speed the calculations of the loss function up by only calculating the dependent elements of the loss vector fi and get the other from a stored vector. Is there a way to get the index of parameter x of which the optimizer is calculating the partial derivative?

I hope I could formulate my question understandable.
